Stop “fixing” women: Why institutional transformation is key to women’s participation in peace operations
How can gendarmerie, police and armed forces grapple with this challenge of gendered institutional transformation? What works, and where to start?
Join DCAF, UN Women, OSCE/ODIHR and a varied group of researchers and practitioners to explore best practices and solutions to achieve institutional transformation in armed forces, police and gendarmerie institutions as a pre-condition for women’s full and equal participation in multilateral peace operations. Drawing on the approaches and strategies outlined in the DCAF/OSCE-ODIHR/UN Women Gender and Security Toolkit, this webinar will explore the following questions:
 How do discriminatory institutional culture and gender bias in security sector institutions impact women’s opportunities and ability to meaningfully participate in peace operations?
 How can armed forces, police and gendarmerie talk about masculinities and transform their male-dominated institutional cultures into inclusive, gender-equal and diverse institutions?
 What does success look like? Where has it been achieved and how?
